PHILADELPHIA, December 22, 2011 – The Roberta and Ernest Scheller, Jr. Family Foundation recently pledged $500,000 to Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) to name the majestic atrium at the entrance to the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management.

The Roberta and Ernest Scheller, Jr. Family Foundation Entrance Plaza will be used to house exhibitions and student presentations, as well as be a public area for impromptu meetings.  Previously, the Foundation provided funding for a Surface Analysis Laboratory in the Nanotechnology Building at the University.  Mr. Scheller also endowed the Ernest Scheller, Jr. Chair in Innovative Management in 2008.

“The Schellers are investing in a program that focuses on developing Israel’s future business leaders to maintain its competitive edge in the global economy,” explains Doron Krakow, executive vice president, American Associates, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (AABGU). “They care deeply about providing hopeful entrepreneurs with quality management skills. We are grateful for their continuing support.”

Bathed in natural light, the four-story entranceway is strategically located between the Diane and Guilford Glazer Building and the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management. The plaza serves as a fluid transition point from outdoor to indoor spaces, characterized by spaciousness and light. Adorned with an aluminum and silver color scheme, the circular atrium stretches from ground level to a large skylight four levels above.

“Israel’s future is important to all of us,” Scheller says. “Roberta and I are fortunate to be able to help better that future through our contributions to Ben-Gurion University.”
