She is the recipient of many prestigious awards, including the Rappaport Prize for Outstanding Achievements in Biomedical Research.

With the $100,000 prize, she was able to establish a fund at BGU in honor of her parents.

“They always pushed me to pursue my love and curiousity for research,” says Prof. Cohen.

The David and Malka Cohen Fund gives three prizes each year to students in the Avram and Stella Goldstein-Goren Department of Biotechnology Engineering who create the best research projects.

In 2012, Prof. Cohen founded BGU’s Center for Regenerative Medicine, Cellular Therapy and Stem Cell Research, which focuses on finding treatments and cures for multiple sclerosis, diabetes, leukemia and other diseases.
