A delegation of the Japanese Makuya movement arrived at BGU this week as part of a show of solidarity with residents of the Negev who suffered during the recent Cast Lead military operation.

The Makuya are fervent Christian Zionists and its members staunchly support Israel, especially in times of distress.

The group marched from the Beer-Sheva Central Bus Station to the Government Offices Complex before arriving at BGU, where they were greeted by University President Prof. Rivka Carmi.

Several Makuya members have studied at BGU, including the leader of the visiting delegation who completed a B.A. in history and Jewish thought.
