Helping the Needy at Passover

BGU is unquestionably a university with a conscience. Here’s a great example of how BGU put its values into action.

In the days leading up to Passover, BGU’s security department and student association worked together on a project to help needy families.

They held a special sale of items found in the University’s “Lost and Found,” including sunglasses, reading glasses, jewelry, laptop chargers, cell phone chargers, flash-drives, calculators and 40 bicycles. The result: 16,000 shekels (over $4,600).

This money was used to buy food to make special Passover packages for needy families. About 80 families will benefit from this project.

The distribution of the packages will be handled by Be’er-Sova, an organization whose aim is to supply free food to the needy in Beer-Sheva and the surrounding area.
