Prof. Zvi HaCohen is responsible for academic affairs at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. He will share new programs and projects with us, as some 20,000 students resume their studies for the spring semester.

Thanks to the efforts of our veteran leader, Dr. Alton Sutnick, new academic affiliations with local institutions are being developed. Prof. HaCohen will also report on the status of these partnerships.

The incumbent of the Maks and Rochelle Etingin Chair in Desert Research at the Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research, on the Sde Boker Campus, Prof. HaCohen serves as a member of the University’s Intellectual Property Committee and has filled many positions at the Blaustein Institutes. He has published dozens of scientific papers, been awarded research grants totaling several million dollars, and holds a large number of patents.

Born in 1947 in Cluj, Rumania, Prof. HaCohen holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in chemistry from Bar-Ilan University and completed his doctorate in organic chemistry at the Weizmann Institute of Science, followed by post-doctorate work at Harvard Medical School.
