On Thursday, February 17, 2011, Americans for Ben-Gurion University held a special live-from-Israel briefing for its leadership nationwide about the political crisis taking place in Egypt.

The featured speaker was Prof. Yoram Meital, an Egypt expert and chair of BGU’s Chaim Herzog Center for Middle East Studies and Diplomacy.

The hour-long teleconference was attended by over 70 Americans for Ben-Gurion University lay leaders across the country, and included a live Q&A session.

Professor Yoram Meital is a regarded expert on Egypt-Israel relations, the politics of Arab states and nationalism in the Middle East. He has been quoted regularly about the crisis in Egypt in the media. He is the author of Egypt’s Struggle for Peace: Continuity and Change, 1967-1977. Prof. Meital obtained his Ph.D. in Middle East Studies from Haifa University and did his postdoctoral studies in Oxford University as a senior associate member at St. Antony’s College.
