The Media Line — At a conference recently hosted by BGU’s Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management, Israeli and Palestinian trade experts and students came together to discuss innovative ways to enhance business interactions between the Palestinian Authority and Israel.

The conference featured a competition in which Israeli and Palestinian business students brainstormed on business cooperation.

“The competition was unique. The students were able to draft cooperation packages and exchange ideas,” says Miki Malul of BGU’s Department of Public Policy and Administration, who moderated the conference.

Despite the politics between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, business between the two sides has grown steadily.

“There are a lot of obstacles but there is a lot of awareness from both sides that there are business opportunities to make,” says Avi Nudelman, chief executive officer of the Israeli-Palestinian Chamber of Commerce.

“There is a lot of willingness to cooperate between Israeli and Palestinian markets.”

The Business for Peace competition and panel was sponsored by Diane and Guilford Glazer of Los Angeles, California.
