BEER-SHEVA, Israel, June 20, 2012 — Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) has installed a charging station for electric cars on the University’s Marcus Family Campus, provided by the Better Place electric car company in Israel. This is the first of four planned Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations to be installed in parking lots on the Beer-Sheva campus.

“BGU is a world leader in the research of alternative fuels for vehicles and alternative energy, so it’s exciting to be part of Better Place’s effort to expand the use of sustainable electric vehicle technology,” says Doron Krakow, executive vice president, American Associates, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. “The University is a recognized green campus, and we are pleased to be part of the effort to reduce Israel’s reliance on fossil fuels.”

Better Place is a venture-backed American-Israeli company based in Palo Alto, California and is the leading global provider of electric car networks. Its innovative battery switch model makes driving electric cars more affordable, convenient and sustainable than gasoline-powered cars.  Better Place owns and operates a network of battery switch stations and Charge Spots, along with the supply of batteries that power the cars.

ABOUT AMERICANS FOR BEN-GURION UNIVERSITY
