Israel Hayom — Forbes magazine owner, Steve Forbes, recently visited the Advanced Technologies Park (ATP) adjacent to BGU’s Marcus Family Campus in Beer-Sheva.
Forbes was accompanied on his visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Beer-Sheva Mayor Ruvik Danilovich, and BGU President Prof. Rivka Carmi.
“What we are seeing in Beer-Sheva is very significant progress, a global revolution,” says Prime Minister Netanyahu.
“This is the future.” Netanyahu tells Forbes. “The future of the global economy depends on the Internet economy, and that cannot grow without cyber security. We need to find solutions to safeguard banking systems, electronic systems and air transportation. Cyber defense is a necessity, and it is our intention to be the leader in this field.”
“The true wealth of the State of Israel doesn’t lie in natural gas fields,” says Mayor Danilovich, “Rather in the quality human capital currently gathering in the Negev, in the academic institutions and the best intelligence and teleprocessing minds that come through here.”
